The Yarny Way

Jared

Jared Burgoon (he/they) has been knitting since 2018, but crafting has always been part of his life. He grew up surrounded by creativity—embroidering with his grandma, latch hooking with his mom, and turning pens with his dad. When he discovered knitting, everything clicked. It quickly became his favorite way to slow down, focus, and stay grounded—especially during busy days at work.

Jared especially enjoys making shawls, scarves, and beanies, and brings both patience and playfulness to his teaching. He works full-time at the Burkhart Center and comes from a family of educators—so helping others learn new skills is in his DNA. Jared has a passion for entering his work in fairs and has earned numerous awards over the years, including blue, red, white, and honorable mention ribbons from the South Plains Fair. His accomplishments culminated in a Best in Show for knitting in 2025. That same year, he entered the State Fair for the first time and proudly brought home both Blue and Red ribbons. Now as a teacher, Jared inspires his students to submit their own creations to the fair—and he’s excited to share his love of knitting with you!
